my mattress is a combo too. I got mine made at a foam shop and have the memory foam in a separate cover that velcros down on the cover of the regular foam base. that way I can use it alone for camping etc. that's why I got a 3" thick piece.Cliffmeister2000 wrote:afreegreek wrote:this price is so low because it is not 4" of memory foam. it is only 1-1/2" of memory foam bonded to a 2-1/2" base of regular foam.
My bed in my bedroom is a layer of memory foam bonded to regular foam. Came from Costco in a plastic box. I think someone might sink in and disappear into pure memory foam.
My mattress in my tear is 4" of regular foam. a 1-1/2" layer of memory foam would be nice, but I haven't needed it so far.
anyway, the guy at the foam shop told me that double the depth you sink into is all you need.. for most people this is about 2" of memory foam on a base of regular foam. however after trying the 2" foam alone on the floor, I decided to go with 3" because I wanted the dual purpose thing..
