ya they make good bits but you don't need a $20.00 bit when a $10.00 bit will work just as well. save your Freud for wood because it won't cut as well after you cut metal with it.

Thanks for the info, afreegreek.

So I'll be looking for a 1/4" shank, 1/2" diameter cut, single or double flute, wood bit. Correct?

Will be making a trip to the hardware store tomorrow.

I want to thank everyone who replied with advice to my question.

I pulled the RotoZip out of the storage bag today and little did I know, I had a two flute bit in the bit case. In fact there were two. They were both 3/8" bit.
I first trimmed the profile of the .040 aluminum panel(over-sized) using snips, then clamped it to the sidewall. I drilled a 1/2" starting hole and cut out the door opening. The cutting went smooth with the 3/8" bit.

I'll leave the Blue protective film on until I install the doors and edge molding.

you can do really fine work with a regular bit on aluminum.. this is about aluminum is about 1/16" but I've used plate aluminum up to 3/8" and had good results.. you just need to go slower.
