My 7 year old daughter, who is too smart for her own good, has suggested laminating the two cut outs I currently have to create a roughly one inch thick door. Given that I intend to put a 14x21 window into it (represented by the cardboard) which would take some weight away, I think she might be on to something. I had wondered about framing the interior side of the (single 5/8 ply) door with 1x4's to create a hollow door then fill with styro and skin with lauan but maybe the daughter's idea works?
I also think I will switch from the Tee hinges to a piano hinge.
On the subject of windows I am considering ordering from Vintage Technologies. Anyone have experience with them? Also, anyone know of windows available for immediate pick up in Southern California?
Thanks,
Kyle
