So by that measure a grade 8 5/8" pin on the hitch is 27,000 pounds and change.

A single 1/4 inch is 4 thousand and change.

Straps and chewing gum it is.

wow, I was going to use 4 disconnect pins, one at each corner, as used on my trailer hitch. Don't know the size but thought I'd put some flat bar steal inside instead of washers, run some tight fitting pipe through the wood and then trough the steal plate floor of the trailer. I wanted to be able to take the box off and still have my utility trailer. Now, I'm not so shure.....

PS. SIte seems faster to me, it works great....Thanks!

Hey Steve, I have 12 3/8" carriage bolts with big heavy washers and lock nuts holding my cab to the frame, 4 on each side with 2 in the front and back. They are attached to tabs on the inside of the 2" tube frame and are about 26" apart. I don't know how well this will work out as we are still finishing the trailer. The whole teardrop sure moves as a solid single unit though. You can see my chassis plan by clicking the thread below. Sounds like you're on track though!

All the best,

Dave

12 3/8' bolts are about 6 more than is needed. As long as the sides and top is firmly attached to the floor that is then bolted to the frame.

Be sure to use Grade 5 or better bolts.
