Or look at all those Trabants made in East Germany - they were made from Duroplast, some sort of phenolic resin and cotton fibres (both scrap or recycled materials) and were strong enough for this:

Because the fibres used in were cotton, rodents were claimed to gnaw bedding material from broken Trabbie body parts!
