Bedding for a good nights sleep?

Yeah, Mike, those are the mattress sizes. What I was referring to are the toppers. I haven't seen a topper yet adverstised that was the same exact size as the mattress. The Queen toppers i've looked at measured about 58" wide and 75" to 78" long. I can live with that, as I will have 4 cushions of 4" foam, and will put the 1-piece topper on them for sleeping.

I finally found a 3" 5.0 queen topper that is said to be actual queen size, 60" x 80" x 3". It sells for $66 plus $29.95 shipping.

We were going to use it on top of the air mattress. However, as we fiddled with moving the bed stuff around, we tore a hole in the air mattress. If it isn't fixed by the next trip, we'll just try it with the 3 inch foam topper (plus an additional one inch regular foam pad underneath.)

I was wondering if anyone did this. Bill has a bad back and does better with a firmer sleeping bottom so it might work out better this way.

Futons are comfortable and provide great insulation. Probably heavier than foam. I went to a place nearby that makes custom futons and custom sized mattresses for campers and big trucks. They made up a thing for me called a spring futon. Custom sized to my specs, heavy cotton cover like a futon, has some kind of innersprings yet you can fold it and slip it right in the teardrop door. It's approx. 4 or 5 inches thick. Cost me $100. Very comfy.

If you have trouble making fitted sheets fit your mattress you can get little elastic clip on things at Wal Mart that fasten underneath and pull the sheet tight.

I gotta tell you guys and gals...

We bought the queen size 6" foam mattress (with 1.5" memory foam) from Walmart and set it up in the den to see if it would work for us.... we slept on it for 3 days ands found it quite comfortable. We'll cut it down to fit when the time comes.

Tony, is that a covered mattress, or just bare foam? I'd hate to have to cut up a good covered mattress for cushions.

I bought the same covered mattress from Walmart, and it is really comfortable. Yes it is covered with a really nice cover. If one were to cut it up, he/she would have to buy or make new covers. Kinda takes the "great deal" right out of it!

Yeah it would. I need 4 cushions, and will need them covered. So, I think I'll be better off, if not cheaper, buying bare 4" HD foam for cushions and get a 2" or 3" MF (that IS Memory Foam BTW) topper to put on top for sleeping. I rechecked Knox vs Florida Foam. Knox wants $180 with no covers for my 4 cushions. Florida Foam wants $149 with dacron inner covers or $115 without covers for the same cushions. Knox is free shipping and Florida Foam $20 for shipping, or I can drive to pick them up and make a day trip to do some sightseeing at Tarpon Springs where they are located.

Or modify the existing cover! Nothing like having a wife who is an excellent seamstress.

I bought my wife a nice sewing machine, but I'm the seamster (is that a word???) in the house. I've been sewing for many years. I even reupholstered a couch once, making removable seat cushion covers. But, my sister does better than I do with that type of sewing and I may pay her to make my covers.

Are you good at reupholstery? I have two nice chairs that need doing. I could drop them off in 2006 and pick them up in 2007. Would I pay for that in 2006 dollars or 2007 dollars?

Mike, I didn't way I enjoyed doing it, I just said I could. No, I don't think I want to take on another project for the next year or two. I am booked up now as it is.
