Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Postby Classic Finn » Mon Dec 19, 2005 4:59 pm

Thank you for the nice comments: We are really excited about getting the tires and rims put on plus a good start with the woodwork :M :dancing :hammer: . Most likely wont be until after Christmas though.

But at the same time this teardrop start is also a part of you all..for answering all the unknown questions weve had .. and of course will have.
And we,ll always keep that thought with us....

Thank You Again

madjack wrote:Heikki, that is truly outstanding lookin' frame...I really like the galvanizing/shocks and the cost seems to be in the same sort of range to be had over here...gonna look really cool with the mag wheels

p.s. don't know about others but Santa has always come to my house inna Chevy ;)

The wife has been looking at some Wheel Brochures again and seems to like these better than the smoothies - They dont have them here though.
I dont even know if they make them anymore..The ones we have picked out now are the "Smoothies" which are nice looking too and available here in addition to the American Racing Wheels - soo cant really
decide.. The 1st ones are called Tru Spoke by Cragar I think.. :QM

The photos is below: We do have a Coker Tire dealer here that has the whitewalls that they would look nice with ...

Here,s the tires with the rims... we sure do both like the tires.

Sooooo - Is it #1 #2 or #3 which wouldnt look good at all with
whitewalls.. If the Truspoke are not found anywhere then its #2 or #3 since I can buy them here..

PS How are Good Year "Marathon" Radials - Anyone use them on their
teardrop?

...those wire rims with the "gangsta" white walls woulda sure looked sharp...the smoothies will do just fine though...I am using "modular" wheels which are stamped/chromed steel similar lookin' to the last ones in your post(just cheaper)

Madjack the smoothies here are about 130USD and the American Racing ones are about 140USD

The 1st ones which are spoke we have no idea on since they are not available here.. Dont know if they could be found there.. ?

I really like the ones you have on yours as well....

Either of your wheel choices will look great, I bought 4 15'' Ford ralleys for $60 bucks. They had the center caps and trim rings. Don't have to repaint, looks like new. So watch for some used to save some $$$

Hey Finn , your Carpenters Drafting kit will be going out in the morning. I hope you & yours have a very Merry Christmas !! & A Happy New year!
:applause:

Not sure how long it will take to get there, hope it arrives in time.( for what , I don't know) hope you enjoy it. I thought about sending my favorite tape , saying that all the scars & scrapes were part of the character showing all the projects I used it on over the many years, how i built sheds, garages, help on a few houses , & finaly built my Teardrop with it . But i decided that sounded SSOOOOOOO lame & corny , ( besides , who wants a used tape anyway!)you are recieving a NEW tape!( and trinkets) ENJOY!

Do you celebrate New Years like we do ? :wine: :P :tipsy: :dancing  :wine:  :P :SH

Sorry guys, I only just paid attention to this thread - it would have been a lot easier to send it from here. Most of our tapes are combination:

Which proves that we're not as metricated as I make out.

And, yes, the units you are using are always on the other side of the tape from where you want to mark a length.

  Are them Imperial Inches? There is a difference in the Imperial Gallon as to the U.S. Gallon right :QM

So I thought just a possibility of them Imperial Inches being Bigger as well..

Classic Finn

Gee an "Imperial" Tape Measure from England - Now that would be cool.

  Classic Finn

PS - Boodro You should of just sent the used one with all your markings on it.. That way when I go out and measure it would look like Ive been
using your measuring system for years!!!

Thank You Very Very Much...

Also when you talk about the US Foot - Thats about 30 centimeters but
actually doesnt it go according to the size of the shoe.. thus making the
"Foot" vary in size :QM :duh

Foot size??? I guess it depends on how long your felanges are (spelling?) or are they metatarcels?? never can keep it straight. I think my teenage son should wear the boxes & throw away the shoes? Man he's got LONG toes!

Finn , your package should be there in 4 - 6 days they said at the Post Office.

Merry Christmas ya'll! 8)

One question came to mind just now.. You folks use them fancy torsion axles and drop axles - for now anyway we just have the straight
axle on our frame...

Is there any problems using this type axle or anything I should know about? I do have the leaf springs and shocks on it?

It could very well be I,ll change to another axle if I can find some like the ones you have there in the USA...

Just curious

I was just looking at the different axles on the teardrops and I came up with this question and it started to bother me some so had to ask...Maybe I,ll have it pull nicely with airshocks and springs under it
