Hi Steve,

Very inspiring, very inspiring!

Did you epoxy the outside of the bottom of the floor as well?

I didn't epoxy the floor (interior or the outside) of the camper. I put some exterior latex on the underside of the floor, but I haven't completed sealing it. The only time it would get wet is when trailering in the rain (which I've done 3 or 4 times now) so I really should complete it. I painted the areas where the tires would sling the most water. I really should have painted the floor before I mounted it to the frame - it would have been much easier than crawling around on my back with a roller and brush.

I haven't painted the top of the camper yet because it rained yesterday. It actually did more than rain, the sky opened up and dropped way too much water in a very short time. It started hailing at the end of the storm too. I stayed inside the camper during the downpour and my epoxy/fiberglass/woodflour work seems to have worked just fine. No leaks, and that was one of the worst storms it has been through. Also my fancy peel ply experiment with the wax paper didn't work as well as I'd hoped. It caused the epoxy to have tiny washboard lines in it when I peeled it. I'll sand it out, slap some paint on it, and call it good.

I purchased some plexiglass so that I can make a small glass window inside the storage cabinet above the counter. It's a pain to use my remote to the stereo because the mesh that I use to hide my cupboards (it also keeps stuff from falling out) really interferes with the remote. The plan is to move the stereo to the front behind a tinted plexiglass window. I have two remotes in the camper - one for the TV and the other for the stereo.

I also got the materials to install the headliner. I couldn't find any black vinyl, so I'm going use black carpet for now. If I don't like it, I'll rip it off and install the black vinyl later. I don't think the carpet will add much insulation, but I really don't need it. Yesteday is was 96 degrees (before the flood) and the AC was keeping the interior nice and cool. I have 1/4" plywood sides/roof and my camper is not insulated. The camper was outside in direct sunlight.

Well the carpet headliner was a spectacular failure. I knew that installing the headliner in my camper was going to be a huge pain in the ass. I'd stick the carpet up and it would start falling down. I'd get one side up, and then the other side would fall down. :x

So I ripped it all out and I'm going to try this another way. I'm going to order my black vinyl (anyone know any good sources?) and cut out some 1/8" plywood, hardboard, or whatever I can find that is the same size as the area I need to cover in the camper. Using EPOXY, I will glue the vinyl to my wooden cutouts and let gravity work its magic overnight. Then I'll glue these insert onto the ceiling and trim it out. What a huge pain. Gah!

Doug probably has some, but the shipping may be a deal stopper.

Steve, Roll the Puffin on it's back, then install the carpet. :D

NoNeck - Nope, no pictures. I figured the heat from all of the obscenities I was yelling would help hold it up too - no such luck.

Jeeper92 - I tried them online, but I didn't find their vinyl section, only 9" stuff? I found some online at Hancock Fabrics.

bledsoe3 - It seems to be going for around $10 per yard (54" width) and I only need 2 yards. Most places are charging about $10 for shipping - I'm going to have it shipped as it would save me $10 of frustration. :R

Mary K - That is such an elegant solution! I can't believe I didn't think of that.

If you're going to pay shipping anyway, might as well call Doug and "keep it in the family".
