I had my simulated rain goin' for a few minutes when the real rain set in. One small leak at the bottom of the side vent... an easy fix and I think she's ready to camp! :D

Thanks Folks

Postby Weerider » Sun Dec 30, 2007 9:48 am

Thanks everyone, I will report back on the experience. We are really looking forward to this first camping trip. We used to do a fair amount of tent camping but this will be a new experience... I am talkin' about a tent that we could fit on the motorcycle along with all our other stuff and this Teardrop will be a definite step up from that.:)

Thanks again for all your help and encouragement. In the months to come I will be building cabinet doors and adding all the finishing touches to get her just the way we want her.

Hope to see some of you at a camp out down the road! :)

Camping Report

Postby Weerider » Sun Jan 13, 2008 9:19 pm

We have our first camp outing under our belts and can report that the Teardrop is all that we could have hoped for. We spent two nights at FDR State Park near Warm Springs, Ga. The weather was a bit on the cool side with the high getting up to a balmy 42 degrees. The first night it got down to 15 degrees but we were toasty warm with our small ceramic heater. The door edges are wrapped with aluminum and the cold transfered to the inside freezing the condensation there. The second night got down to the low 20s but we left the roof vent cracked open slightly and didn't have the problem... it was still warm inside.

We will be looking for warmer weather for out next outing. It was so cold we had to spend most of our time inside. Had enough time to watch 8 episodes of the first season of "The Andy Griffith Show", 3 episodes of "Black Books" and "Roman Holiday". We did get in an 85 mile motorcycle ride once it got up close to 40.

As cold as it was, there were about 10 other campers in the campground including one young couple in a tent. We weren't able to socialize with the campground residents because none was leaving the warmth of their trailers and motothomes.

It was fun but I am sure it will be much better when it's just a little warmer.

Here I am waiting for it to warm up enough to ride the bike. Image

Here's Pam preparing "eggs erroneous" in sub freezing weather. Image
Notice that the campground isn't exactly full.
