This may lose something in its' translation but the words "docking", "excitement" and "close quarters" in the same sentence has totally cracked me up

Fabulous thread Steve, :worship: just read it all in one go  (Is**t you not!!) I've learnt a hell of a lot from this thread alone, not least is that I can't go for this length of time without food or drink :?

Happy camping one and all.

Nice work there.
I was wondering about the second one from the left. Can't get the wife in a kayak by herself so I either need a 3 hole kayak (so it can be used when I'm by myself) or something like that one. Don't really want a standard canoe tho.
I kinda like the open top one. How does that handle and how is it to paddle?
Do you know the weight of it? Can it handle 2 people alright? Also need to be able to load it myself. lol

Sorry for the hijack Steve. :D

That's crazy! I don't think I could make it through all of this thread in one sitting. :D I'm glad you liked it - it was fun. It should be interesting when I add the hitch to the camper too.

Nitetimes - No need to apologize to me. I love boat talk.

Rich
The open boat is one I designed and built just for the reasons you described.
My son in law weighs about 215 so do I we both can paddle in this boat
very easily and with tumble homes it has a low wind signature flat bottom
floats in about 2 inches of water when I am in it and very stable with flat bottom .Its part canoe part yak and part pirogue.

WOW!
just read all the posts in one sitting, sat down around 1:30 for just some quick research, and now its 6PM, good thing the wife is away!
love the puffin Steve!

i am currently building a stitch and glue sea kayak so i am familiar with epoxy, glass, etc...whatever i build i think i will glass the roof for stability and leak proof...

i think i am going to plan a combination squidget/puffin design. i like the stand up clearance in the squidget, but the cost and weight of the trailer is a drawback-$600 for a 5x10 weighs 418lbs at red trailer, pick up only. i don't like the idea of a dropped floor, i envision tripping/falling into it. and i do like the idea of an enclosed potty, and i like angib's plan for a double folding potty door to cut down on space...

lots to think about! when i decide/begin building i will post with pix!

Hi All - I'm about to put the Puffin up for sale in the next week or so. I'm moving again and I'm taking my new boat with me, but I don't want to store the Puffin.

I'm going to put it up on Ebay, but I thought I'd let everyone here know first. Buy it Now is $3500.

It's currently located in Pearland, TX in a mini-storage.

Thanks,
Steve

I am very interested on the thread to see Steve Wolverton's pictures so I can use them on my new build, unfortunately all the links are broken, could it be possible to repost them?...all the links are on the old forum, which apparently disappeared on the new site.
This is my build thread...

Here is the link to where you can get a zip file of the PDF of the Puffin build:

http://www3.telus.net/public/bve/

Scroll down about halfway to "completed builds". Click on the "Steve's Puffin" hyperlink to get the file.
