Insulating Properties of Plywood

Hi :D
In an effort to simplify my plans I am considering using a single 18mm sheet of ply for my side walls instead of forming a sandwich of 2 pieces of 9mm with insulation.
Would a single sheet of 18mm give enough insulation to stop condensation problems bearing in mind that in this part of the world we don’t get really cold winters or red hot summers.

Thanks :)

tyke,
I think you will be fine with 18mm. Mine is built with 3/4"(I think that is the same as 18mm) ply, and we have never had a problem with condensation, inside or out. I think if you have good ventilation that will help as well. good luck.

SteveT...we build our tears with 3/4 ply side...to me, the key is adequate ventilation...windows and roof vents.....

Hi Jack :D
I intend to have plenty of ventilation as it will be mostly used in the summer travelling to shooting competitions around England.

Thanks for the reply ;)

One thing to keep in mind is, most all of the original teardrops were made with 1/2" side wall, and they seemed to do OK.

Go through this and you may get more of an answer than you can handle. especially under the heating and insulation part
