Structure advice appreciated.

Hi all,
I think I need advice on how much support to give my window. The window is 42" by 26". It is an RV type.


My framing measures exactly 1" thick and 1 3/4" wide. So I left two member loose to see what everyone thought.

This is the open framing and is 16" on center with 4" on ends.


This one has 4"open on the ends and 8" between the short members

2. Question, The window has curved corners. Do I need to make corner pieces for it?

...my advice is that the first framing pic is sufficient and yes you need to have curved framing for the window...

Thank you all so much. (I am trying to not build a tank here )

I made the "little" curved pieces. The window has an outer flange and an inner Flange (don't know the right name for it) so I had to cut around the smaller inner thingy. That leaves an inner void of about 1/4" inside.

I'll post a picture tommorow. The digital doesn't do close ups.

MC, the first pic most likely would be enough support, but if you wanted to add more, it would go above the window, like headers in houses, Your walls are really looking great, you make progress everytime I read your questions.

PS, I love the window size! I have the same size for my build in hopes of creating an open airy feel for the tear, tell me if it works,

I love the window too. they had a much nicer one. It had side panels that didn't open and 4 panes that open. It was 48" across and 36" up. I came so close to taking it home. Way too big of course but it was nice.

I added 2 side braces and another wall stud toward the back. Just have one more to cut but ran out. Gotta cut another 2"x6"x10'.

I did fit the window today. SNUG. I barely left room to get it in.

Well I finally got to Wally world to get some film developed.
This is the channel in the window. I seems to sit on the outside ledge leaving a void in between. Does that sound right?

AM, the OUTER flange should seal against the exterior wall, the channel you are refering to should be in line with the waall and the inner flange should either come off or be for an interior trim ring to fasten to....

Morning Arne,
That window came from a RV in an auto salvage yard. Seems they have RV's scattered all over Joplin. I went too most in town. Also looked at conversion vans. I was thinking the tall narrow windows would look good.
