Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I won the auction for the 3/4 ton military trailer frame. It's a frame for the M101 trailer which is 5'x9'x18", 1289# (w/ bed and fence), parking brake, and capable of carrying over 2.5 tons off road. http://cgi.govliquidation.com/auction/view?id=926522

I've currently got a 4x8 "Cub" design (LittleGuy design). It's more of a utility sleeper than a td. It's a little small on the width and kitchen layout. So I was lurking for a larger frame to start a larger td. Since I camp when I trailride, the 5x9 is a perfect size for 3. I'll be removing the suspension, axle, wheel/tires to save on the weight. I'm intrigued on the idea of a canvas side and top.

Perhaps you should use the trailer just as it is for a one of a kind tear!
Might have to carry a stepladder to make it easier to get in and out tho.

The CJ-10 would have been sweet to pull a mil-style tear with. But I am Jeep nut also!

Not to be a tank-n-tear, as my 4cyl TJ won't pull much weight.

My thoughts for the frame is for an off-road td camper. Once I get the trailer frame's dimensions, I'll layout something I have in mind.
Run same wheels as my Jeep but lower height tires (thinking 30-31's for commonality, maybe even 235's). I'm thinking of cutting down widthwise a 3500# trailer axle, adapting the front spindle off a Jeep's front axle to use as a hub, adapt the rear backing plate, brakes and drum for parking brake capability to the axle, thus have same lug bolt pattern for the wheel and capable of locking the wheels.
Still need to keep the overall width near 66" to store next to the house, so the tires will be encased by the sides of the td.
With the width of the frame, I could probably get away with a cross over bunk above the lower sleep area. Length is going to be a little long, but that'll welcome storage areas with side access.
Comtemplating the idea of offset doors rather than mirroring them.
To keep weight down, I'm thinking of the discussion here on cloth panels. How about an old military tent (and liner?) for the sides, top, and rear hatch. Isolated interior with wood paneling, and insulation between them. The front would have protection of wood, frp, or aluminum. Trim could be wood or aluminum for the exterior, matching for the interior.
Soft sunroof and side windows with screens or even the hard windows.
