Making square doors out of curved ones

Postby John6012 » Wed Jul 26, 2006 6:39 pm

I 'm ready to do the doors-actually, I've made two on the trailer andthey are curved -I thought they looked neat -but I find that I cannot make the doors look professional (like you guys) so I want to make two replacement doors that are square. I know I'll have to buy another sheet of aluminum and get some 3/4 material for the doors. Got the hinges and all. What do you think? The curved doors look crappy with the aluminum trim around them and sanding the trim to match the door edge didn't earn an emmy either. Thanks

John,

When I was building the Baja Benroy, I switched from curved doors to square ones...

If you look close at the pictures on this page, you'll notice the change...

Mike...
The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...

Thanks, I'm afraid my digital camera is on the fritz. I have this 23' travel trailer and with gas as it is, I'm going to sell it and downsize to the teardrop. I just gotta do the doors square and once I start, there's no going back to the curve. It's so much easier to make a square door vs the curved one - at least to me. Thanks
