Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

This weekend I decided to install a sink in the teardrop. (I would have rather been to the IRG but couldn't make it.) So, I went to the locale restrurant supply company and found a steam pan just the right size and for a great price, $10.00. Beat an RV sink for $65.00! I had to cut a hole in the bottom for the drain but with a good blade in the jigsaw it was pretty easy. I used a small bar drain and an RV supply store had the drain hose and pump. I cut the hole out of the counter and set it all in. The drain goes out the side of the trailer. I used a 5 gal water container and drilled out the air relief hole to fit the 3/8" pump hose. Filled the container, pushed the hose in, added a short hose to the side of the trailer and it works great! Since the steam pan is flat inside the sink doesn't drain completely, but that's ok. ( A little water left standing.) It's mostly for drinking water and a little washing. I can always add an electric pump if I need MORE POWER!

And I wouldn't worry about the bottom of the pan being flat.

I doubt you're ever going to set the TD up 100% level anyway.

Maybe that's my last name so I know who's water container is who's. (Or is it "water" in a different language? Who knows?)) And you're right, Ira. I try hard to get the trailer level but it doesn't always work.

Nice set-up! I particularly like the way you are draining it to the outside into a bucket. Can you tell us a little more about the fittings you used for the drain system? Particularly the connection directly under the sink and the exterior connection that you have the hoses hooked into. I think I might try to do the same set-up myself. Draining it to a bucket on the outside makes it much easier to see when it's getting full.

The fitting below the sink was a bought item that I found at the RV trailer supply store here locally. I'm sure they have them all over. It has a piece that you screw to the bottom of the sink drain, (thats the white cup shaped thing) and it has a hose connected on it, (I cut it shorter) and a fitting that you screw to the side of the trailer with a threaded hose connector on it. It comes with a cap. I just bought a female hose connector and some clear hose and made the attached piece that goes in the bucket. You could get a longer or shorter length depending on where you want to drain the water to. Check your local RV parts supplier and see what they have. Lowes had the sink drain fitting (its a bar sink drain, smaller that a regular sink drain) but it was cheaper at the RV place.
