Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

we just sold our old truck, the dump-runner,

so i was thinkin,
could one build the tear-cabbin, to slide off the trailer,
then have another bed with side-rails for haulin crap around,

i dont want to use the tear, so a pull out kitchen is out,

i was thinking of mounting the bottom of the tear with a 3X2X1/8 steel frame
to sit on the trailer and bolt down,and slide of with legs,

be the same for the dump-runner

just wondering,,

How much weight are you adding, setting a frame on top of a frame?

And how the heck are you going to lift a teardrop up and set it on the chassis?

Why not just build something like this?

I made a removable galley for mine over a year ago and to this day it has not been out of the camper. At the time it seemed like a good idea, but now I am thinking it would be easier to just have a trailer setting around that will also give a foundation for the next build. I am starting to get that bug again. Just my opinion.

We understand that bug thing... I've had that bug almost a half a dozen times now...

So what are you planning for your next build?

I have saved all of the 12 Scotty plans and have been looking at them. My wife hates it and that is what usually makes me want to so something some times. Just to show her that I can make my own decisions on things.

You could build something like this. It just slides in and out.

With a slip in, you really need a flat bed trailer without rails.

I started with the same idea, and I'm building it. I am starting to think that it will never come apart, unless I get a garage big enough and rig a pully/winch system to lift it off its home.

Slide-in campers that are more square, not having the bed over the cab, have been around for quite a while. A flat bottomed TD could be concieved as a slide-on but most to all are bolted rigid to a frame.

Most riders use a cargo style box trailer with a drop down rear door. Most mfrs in that market can add vents, side doors, bedding, etc.

Saw a trailer over the weekend at a TRIKE gathering:
12' pointed nose - in the nose was the john or throne if you will - kitchen, sterio, tv, hot and cold water plus grey tanks with the bed in back - folding cushons and bed deck made room to drive his trike in! OH! A/C too!
His wife told me if he didn't slow down on the drinking that it would be his full time acccomidations when they got home! LOL
