Coating the inside of walls ?

Postby brian_nj2006 » Sun Aug 20, 2006 3:15 pm

I have read the posts on people coating the inside of the walls and there seems to be alot of recomendation to coat the inside of the walls to the same standard as the outside. I am planning on coating the outside in CPES and then glassing the whole thing. So my question is would CPES on the interior surfaces of the walls be enough or should I also paint them?

Brian,
Let me be the first to tell you that you really don't need to coat the inside with CPES unless you are using it for a shower. Any finish will do it.

I am building with wood, foam and wood walls so I coated the inside (hidden) walls with floor polyurathane I had around. Some are using paint. I did this to protect the ply from moisture.

My final inside walls will probably be the same poly floor finish or an amber shellac. (I have 5 gallons of it.)

Thanks I figured that would be overkill, and with all the extra paint I have in the closet maybe I can get rid of some of it.
