Quick! molding behind the door hinge?

Postby oklahomajewel » Thu Sep 28, 2006 4:11 pm

Okay, doors are going on this weekend.
The planning the hinge to be on the exterior.

Would I still put the 1/2 " angle trim on the door opening and then the hinge over that? SO the screw goes thru holes in the hinge, then the angle 'molding' then the wood?
Remember... no dumb questions.

PS.... also , does it really matter , other than aesthetics if I do a straight corner or a miter? My doors are about 30" square

Thanks
Julie

Julie,
Not sure about the trim, but you don't need to miter the edges. I'm not because I don,t want water between the seam. (caulk ---I know but a pain) Having the top over the legs. 8)

BTW the hinge is on the bed :D Thanks, it is perfect!

Are you putting the hinges on with the screws showing on the outside, you know, layed flat? If you are hiding the "flats" remember that you will have to cut the door a little narrower because the hinge will push the door toward the handle end and it won't shut.
