Meandering 'Mander update (lots of pics!)...

After watching paint dry (literally) last week, it was nice to actually get back to building! My goal for the weekend was to get most of the exterior accessories prepped and get the walls and ceiling spars up.
I discovered last week that even though I draw stained glass patterns, I CANNOT paint a mural to save my life, LOL! I found a couple of metal garden sunbursts and decided to modify/paint them.
Drilling the holes, grinding off the sharp edges:
I picked up some mirror frames at Hobby Lobby to use as windows. The mirrors were broken, so they were on clearance for 80% off…I picked up two large 30” round frames and a 10”x30” frame for around $8 each! The two round metal frames had to be caulked along the seams to make them waterproof. They’ll be painted before installation and have Plexiglas/screens added. The long frame will be a non-opening window for the front. The doors still need to be skinned, but I couldn’t resist test fitting one of the 'windows':
I decided on inexpensive strap type hinges for the doors, then scuffed and painted them ‘hammered copper’:
Cut 10 spars to length and framed the roof vent and front window:
Bringing it all together:
The color isn't showing up right on the screen, it's actually a bright medium teal. I wanted it to match the Sunflower yellow TDI Beetle, the 'Electric Flamingo' Sunroof Bus, and the very orange Thing, so it HAD to be bright to run with the VW family, LOL!
