T@b Plans?

Guys,

For some strange reason, I really like the little T@B campers made by Dutchmen. Has anybody ever tried to build a clone or come up with plans? I would be interested in trying to build my own. I checked out several T@B dealers and was shocked to see that little camper sells for almost $13,000. It's a nice looking camper but not $13,000 worth. I just saw one on Ebay it's an 04 model and they want almost $9000. Seems like it could be built at home for much less. I wished I could get plans for it, I would build one in a heartbeat.

P.S. Andrew also has a tidget design, which is a cross between the Tab and the Midget, that you might like.

Has anyone built a Midget or Tidget yet? I'd really like to see one.

Oh wait...I think I recall a blue/white Midget being towed behind a Bronco?

But, are there any PLANs out there?

Arne,

How about something like this...

Mike...

P.S. Plans? None that I know of, unless you count the Wild Goose in the Vintage Plan section. But if I get 3 people that tell me they are interested in building one, then I'll come up with a set of plans.

mikeschn & Gage - That's the one.

Arne - Have you checked out the magazine scans in the vintage plans section yet? They'll give you a good idea of what's involved. Good luck!

Great posts, Guys. I really am impressed with how roomy the T@b is on the inside. Did you own one, Mike? I just can't believe they are $13,000 bucks but I guess they are a quality built item coming from Dutchmen.

I love the pic of the Midget. That is too cool. Was it home built?

If you want something that size, also check out Dale's Squidget plans.

I'm going to look around....

Mike, the problem is that the height is at the back... not near the front. and I'd prefer something that doesn't fold. yes, I'm pretty fussy, but better now than later.

I just looked at the Squidget plans. I'm going to give that some thought. Would like a more rounded front, but that might be a good starting point.

Then I think you are thinking Tidget, Widget, Midget or T@B...

Andrew has the Widget and the Midget in the Design Library...

sandman,

If you want an exact T@b clone, I've got the profile drawn but as yet it has no interior:

I looked at some of the 'almost stand up' plans... the weight seems to be 1,400# unloaded... that would be a killer for me. I want something under 1k#...
