Placement of gas struts

Amazingly enough the placement of gas struts is hiding. Anyone know how to decide where to put them?

Bingo, Miriam! Sonetpro's diagram is the one that I used when installing mine, and I'm thrilled with the results! I love just giving the hatch a gentle tug and then it magically floats open!
