Yeah...I finally figured I would give it a try after debating about if I should go buy one or try to do it myself.

First I went for supplies...

This is how far I got the first day...

Well my question is... Should I add a couple of more cross supports or should this be good with the 3/4" plywood? It is 5'x9' 3/4" Birch plywood and 1x2 oak frame boards. I will be building my own trailer after the teardrop is almost finished.

Thanks for any input....I don't want to over build or under build.

That's a good start on the supplies. But that is not nearly enough. After your first screw up you'll know what I mean.

Ditto on what's been said--more beer will be needed, unless you are just buying for a week at a time.

With 3/4" ply I think you've got plenty there. Not point in getting carried away as you won't be dancing on it anyway, that would really be enough with 1/2" ply. Unless you're real short maybe???

That looks fine--the floor, too.

But here's a bit of advice before you seal it, in case this interests you at all.

If you have a small extra square piece of ply, even if it's not 3/4", say 18" by 18", you may consider gluing it there towards the front of the floor.

After your shell of a cabin is all done, you can drop long bolts or u-bolts into the floor and use wing nuts to hold your spare under there.

This is per the Cubby plans...I added that extra piece...but I never wound up hanging the spare there. Mainly because I still don't HAVE a spare.

Elmo,

Your floor looks like it is more than enough. Mine is made with 1/2 in plywood and seems to be perfect. Just my opinion. Keep up the good work.

I like that idea...I don't know if I will put a spare tire under the TD because I am making a off road version and would want the clearance, but I may put it there anyway to get it to and from where I am going. It would be nice to at least have a spare close by.

My nervousness comes in with the 1x2 oak frame and screwing up the walls. I was going to use 2x4's but thought that was over kill, but would of been easier to screw the walls into. I am worried about splitting it and my wall falling off going down the road...especially if it is off roading a little.

Use a good quality glue and make sure to predrill for the screws that go into the Oak.

I have been using the Gorilla glue...dog doesn't like that stuff...doesn't come out of fur. And have been predrilling everything, so I guess I should be okay.

I Built my floor with 3/4" ply and 1x2. I glued and screwed the side walls (every 8" w/ 2" ss screws) to the 1x2's and it is rock solid....of course once you add the cabinets that will help "seal the deal" also.
