Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Well, yet another long chapter in my quest to build my teardrop has been written. I had one wall glued and screwed to the floor and was about to set up wall number two when tragedy struck. My shop has become overcrowded with wood, tools, and other other kinds of hazzards when it comes to walking around. I always clean up my shop after a day of working and hang my tools back up on the wall. Well, I was walking to the saw horses and I managed to trip on a piece of scrap 2x4 and lost my balance. I fell right into the wall that was glued up and managed to break it when all my tons of weight fell against it. I cracked the wall pretty bad....the great thing is the Liquid Nails held tight and on the glued part of the wall didn't break. I wasn't hurt but thoroughly discusted and bruised. Yep, I have wasted yet another wall panel. I shook it off and began to think what I could do to salvage the rest of the build and decided to pull out the old template and just route out another one. I am back to square one again but not dashed in my hopes to complete this project. Just a lesson I wanted to share...Always make sure to have a clear unobstructed path...especially right next to your teardrop.

Sandman, What determination! I can sympathize My shop is small as well and gets cluttered fast! That surely would have made me pause for a week or more!! Good for you

Last Feb. when our builder was framing our house, they had framed up a 51' section of wall across the back. We have a daylighted basement so it was about a 10-11 foot drop. Yep, you guessed it. They dropped one side of the 51' wall off the back of the house just as we drove up. Evidently the chocks didn't hold and off she went when they set her up.

Used a front end loader and managed to get it back up before quitting time.

Oh well. Glad you didn't get hurt and the damage was minimal and stimulated you creativity

Thanks Guys for the positive thoughts. I am a big goof. I had to stop and laugh when I looked down and saw that my fat butt had literally shattered a 3/4" thick piece of oak plywood. I knew I was a fat man but I never knew how fat until I was laying on top of the wall. I have made and learned from several mistakes thus far and will keep forging ahead....broke from buying so much plywood but wiser.

Glad to hear you are alright. Looks like you know your method will be good. There are stories all over about us getting ourselves hurt that way.

Ya get to do it over so you will have lots of practice.

Just goes to show that they don’t make plywood like they use to, or your just getting fat. Glad that you didn’t get hurt. Just remember I had Nothing To Do With This, Dan Hazard.

Better to bust the plywood than to bust your butt, or arm, or leg. Sorry you have to suffer the setback, but all things considered--plywood is cheap. Several people have documented spills and accidents while building their trailer. I guess there are probably only two types of people building these trailers--those who have had an accident while building their trailer, and those who are going to have an accident while building their trailer. It happens. We are all gravitationally challenged.

At least you busted it up before the glue had a chance to completely dry, Or I hope you did, then you could have had to work to get it off.

Im going to get this done no matter what .... Storm or No Storm...

I intend to fly the flag on my teardrop yet...and yes... there will be 2 flags on the front top of the tear on its maiden voyage....One its the Finnish Flag
and two it will be a USA flag dedicated to all of you on this Forum.

Ok my apologies... 3 simply because Our good friend Andrew has been also giving great advise... so I need to find me a 3 flag mount..

Wrong again ... Forgot Australia and Canada..

But it will be done. Now lets see ... I did run into them flag stands someplace on a Hot Rod Site ... I think.. For Small flags...
