When you guys attached your flooring to your HF trailer frame what did you do about the gap between the cross members and the floor. The crossmembers are about 1/8 inch or so lower than the side rails. Some kind of spacers? thanks for any info.

I went to home depot and got a bunch of paint stirrers... . I did cut them in half, so they were about 6 inches long. I spaced them every 18 inches or so (3 per xmember).I figured 3/4" was stiff enough to bridge the space. And I put roof coating on them as well....

I cut my 2x2 floor joists from pressure treated 2x4's. After ripping out the 2 -2x2's, I was left with a strip slightly less than 1/4" thick x 1 1/2" I glued these strips to the cross members with Gorilla glue. After the glue dried, I planed them down a hair with a little block plane to the perfect thickness.

I went ahead and cut spacers by ripping 2x2's on a table saw. I gauged each spacer for thickness and ripped accordingly. They varied a bit in thickness from one crossemember to the next. Drilled holes in the spacers to match the holes in the crossmembers and then glued them to the frame using silicone. Looks like it will work. Cutting the flooring today.

I found the latice strips at Lowes and used them for that gap on the HF trailer......

If you are building up the floor using 1/2" plywood sheet on top of a frame made from 2x2s, and seal the bottom with asphalt emulsion or similar, don't worry about the gap in the frame cross members. Filling in the gaps just creates additional work, and the side rails provide more than enough support. This is how I built mine, and it's worked out great.

If you plan to just lay the plywood floor on the metal chassis without framing it, you'll need to fill in the gap - unless you like a bouncy bed.

I also didn't worry about the gap on the HF trailer/floor.

Ok, so I went to the extreem. I bought some 1/4" sheet metal and cut it to 2" then I welded it to the frame so the 2x4 would fit and I would have a good place to bolt by 2x4 body frame. I also welded wome 1/4' steel to the center of the crossmembers to support the center 2x4.
Way too much overkill.
