I was curious as to what methods people are using to select shocks, and where they are getting them.

Thanks BigDe

He gets up before I do. Here's a pic. ;) Mine are Monroe's and I got them at an auto parts store. They are in the catalog.

Gerdo did a nice job adding shocks to his trailer:

Monroe retrofit kit, Monroe shocks from the range they suggest, mounted just like Gage... but on a light-but-not-tiny travel trailer.

Dexter also sells a similar kit - but including the shocks - for leaf spring axles only. The local RV shop where I bought my Monroe kit was selling the whole Dexter kit (with shocks) for the same price as the Monroe bracket kit... but I didn't want to use the Dexter weld-on frame brackets on my complete and fiberglass-bodied trailer.

Gerdo did do a very nice job with his installation.

I used some shock's that I bought for my Jeep that were to small. I used a heavy angle bolted to one of the spring hanger bolt's and I got the shock mounting bolts from the help section at the auto parts store.

Gusset welded over original weld joint for extra strength also I replaced the 3/8th inch U bolts with hardened 7/16th inch bolts.
