spray the entire exterior with? has anyone done this?
I have seen pickup beds sprayed with Rhino liner and the finish was pretty nice and could be colored any color. I was thinking it could be sprayed right on the the plywood surface instead of aluminum or steel, any thoughts? Aaron

There are pics of a blue tear that was sprayed with rhino. I haven't seen it personally, just the pics. I have them saved at home so I can't find them right now.

Roly had the bottom of one of his tears sprayed. If I remember correctly, he said that it is heavy.

I found Gage's picture of the blue rhino lined tear on his web site, It was taken at the ITG in Minden.

Did they spray it right on the plywood surface or was it sprayed on aluminum or steel? Thanks! Aaron

I looked into doing that...LineX wanted $500 for black and $800 for color of my choice and he said it would go straight on the plywood (after all my filling, smoothing, etc. was done). I decided against it for three reasons...
1.) It's permanant - no sanding and fixing areas, no re-painting or changing colors, modifications would require I go back to LineX to fix, etc.
2.) I didn't want to spring for $800 plus the expense of epoxy fillers, etc.
3.) I thought the texture might hold dirt/dust (lots of Kansas wind). Just thought a smooth finish would be easier to keep clean.

I think it's a excellent idea and something that should wear like iron....HOWEVER, I have thought about doing the front of my TD and about 8" around the bottom for "rock chips, etc" in the same color I paint, but that's to be determined yet.

I think Line-x/Rhino Liner would be great for the underside of the tear and the bottom of the front where rock chips will occur.

I talked to the boys at rhino lining about my 3x6 and it was $300.00. Said it could go directly onto the plywood and guaranteed not to lift or chip .

Auto parts stores have a cousin to it in rattle cans now ! Might be great for rock guard areas at front or to camo red frames.

They sell that stuff in our local Fred Meyer and can be brushed or sprayed on. I had to put some mud flaps on the tow vehicle since I was getting rock dings on the tears front. If my tear gets too many dings I might do some damage control with an application to look like a car bra. . ImageDanny

Yeah, bedlining is NOT cheap...and I've also heard they guart. it will be waterproof, wont split, crack, tear, etc. There are a lot of do-it-yourself products out there. When I was researching, the best one I found in customer reviews and support, durability, etc. was http://www.nonslipcoating.com/

Hey Danny, I was thinking about adding one of those "Grass skirt" looking things to the tow vehicles...like what you see on big motorhomes pulling a car/boat/trailer - might be an option. I've seen 'em but I really don't know much about them as far as what they provide, cost, etc... But I like the fact they can be "removable".

Keith, my son was telling me that those huge mud flaps connect on the hitch receiver, haven't seen one though, might be too ugly for my liking. Don't want to look like I'm from a Conrad Montana farm. Quite a few realitives were farmers there. :D Danny

After building mine, I'm lucky if I can afford the gas to tow it.

With a Line-Xed TD, wouldn't cleaning simply be to hit it with a pressure washer?
