Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hey Guys,
Just got off the phone with the tech line for the EPOXY-SEAL concrete & garage floor paint people and they say their stuff will be great on our teardrops.No it doesent have to be put on a horizontil surface.I told them all about teardrops and they said just use their bonding agent and they will guarentee it to bond.This stuff is at lowes for 25.00 gal for the paint(dont know about the bonding agent) whuddya think guys?IM bout ready to paint again after 4 days of sanding to remove 2 coats primer and 1 coat paint.This time sell be slick as glass.no bumps or wrinkles or knots....i hope!

Critter...I say goforit...you can be our guinea pig ...if it works like the Co. rep sez, it will give us all, another option....

Got any similar ply scrap laying around? Do you really want to TEST it on the very same TD that you're killing yourself to FIX?

Plus, you might hate the way the stuff looks.

Critter...gotta love innovation...but I vote "No Go" on Epoxy-Seal for this application!!!! I sure don't want to see you scraping and sanding again!!!!

Here's why (if I'm looking at the right website)...the prep guide says

• Do not apply to wood, metal, glazed surfaces or where areas of standing water or hydrostatic pressure are of concern.

• Do not rinse or clean the surface for at least 30 days after application.

...What the heck do they mean by those recommendations???? and BTW, a bonding agent that the rep recommended simply is not the same as a primer!!!! Epoxy Seal Prep Page

Sounds to me like you should only be using this stuff if you plan on driving over your tear up with a 6 by 6 and parking it on top...at least it won't mind any leaky antifreeze or oil!!!!

There is a picture somewhere of a teardrop painted gray, sitting on the salt flats. I believe that tear is painted with garage floor epoxy. Just can't find it.

You might be right! Paint is cheap.... sanding aint! I just came in from burning up sanding disc #82 and i aint done yet.I shure dont want to do this again.i just about worn out my da sander but what i have done is slick as glass almost! Ive got both sides back to the epoxie,now just the frt and top left to do,maye can finish this part today.Im useing 80 grit now and should i go over it again with like 180 grit before i prime?

I've had good results on epoxy_primer_"roll and tip" marine paint applications with a final pass at 120 grit on the epoxy. The 120 gives good "grip" for the primer to adhere to...and I go to a 220+ wet sand on the primer (2 or 3 coats depending on how the primer sands out) before the "roll and tip" color coat(s). Just remember...you're building layers up here....start with a good base, improve the base with the primer...and finish off with the color coat!!!!

Critter...your paint job will only come out as good as the prep work under it...paints at least sprayed ones, don't hide anything. Taking your time now will make you a lot happier in the long run...just my opinion...Doug

Guys , my Bayou Bugout has been sitting the sun for many months now , needs a touchup... built a shed to house/protect it ... need a product that will go over oil based enamel , well sanded ,of course...any ideas???
