I saw an old beat up camp trailer on the side of the road,it has a ten X ^' body and a very nive frame sitting under it. It has a bunch of good windows, stove, oven, water tank, etc. It is falling apart but has a ton of nice aliminum sheets on it.The kind with the slight crease every 6" that might look good on a tear? The aluminum is in excellent shape. The owner of the property said someone abandoned it about twenty years ago and even offered to pay me to haul it off!
Take a look. Aaron

VERY VERY nice find... Repack some wheel bearings, a couple tires and check the lights up and you're ready to roll. With all that "stuff", you have the beginning of a great TD... you could even use it "as is" to get by until fall/winter hits if you had to... s'all about being at the right place at the right time.. congratulations.

...looks like a good score Aaron...I would definitely pull the hubs/bearings apart, clean and inspect them...replace the seals and repack the bearings(if good) and you should be good to go....

The size of that frame matches the body you're building? You didn't mention that, so what am I missing here?

Or have you totally lost your mind and want to grab it for your SECOND build?

I was kinda excited when I wrote my last post, My tear is 10'X 5' wide. The trailer frame is in my driveway, I had a freind who owed me money tear the old camper off it. It is the perfect size except I have to widen the axle 6".It has a square axle that can be cut and I will put a steel tube over it and weld it back together, has a nice set of leak springs and I dont think I will even have to move the axle. It is just what I wanted and even better in some regards. It has a drop axle and that will set my tear a little lower like I wanted. I also scored on the ice box and it is in perfect condition,The door is aluminum and has a coat of latex paint that will come right off, I am going to polish it up and replace the old fiberglass insulation with something more modern,The interior of the icebox is galvanized and is like new. It had a old stove oven combo that is in pretty decent shape but I'm not sure if I will use it. I got three or four nice windows and about six rain gutters of varying size that look like new. I got a nice old porcelan on steel sink without any chips, some old faucets that look like new.
It was very suprizing that all these components are in such good shape,If you saw this camper in person you would probably throwup! It was so rotten that the camper just fell off the trailer! I will repack the bearings and repaint the frame before I use it.
sorry for such a long post,I just needed to brag about my good fortune! Thanks! aaron

I'm wondering if the axle is solid? anyone seen one like this that would know? I guess I will find out when I cut it to widen it a few inches, It is about six inches too narrow so I thought I would cut it in the center and and slide each end into a piece of square tubing and weld it back together.
