Where hurricane hinge & edge molding meet. Question?

We’re using the hurricane hinge and the edge molding that is in the middle of the picture.

The question is does the edge molding go completely under the hurricane hinge or does it get trimmed to some degree or what? If nothing gets trimmed, then the hurricane hinge is no longer flat once past the molding with the rest of the TD, or is this space taken up with like the putty tape? On the side the molding needs to go to edge of the TD.
Can’t have it like this picture with a gap.

Needs to go all the way back like this picture (sorry it’s fuzzy).

So how is the best way to do it? Hope my question is clear

This is mine. I have the hinge extend past the body by 1/2" and the edge trim comes up to it. A added a small peice of 1/2" aluminim angle to finish it off. I have putty tape under the trim and small angle.

You can do as I did or you could notch the edge molding around the hinge. My only fear with notching around would be, that it may allow water in the top edge of the cut.

Martha!

Cut the mounting flange part of the hinge flush with the side of the tear, allowing for a 3/8"-or-so overhang of the hinge-pivot housing and the little verticle locating flange (will probably have to notch that flange over the galley wall for a really nice fit). Then, cut a notch in the top flange of the Roof Edge Molding so that it fits up nicely against the mounting flange of the hinge and extends past the hinge end to butt-up against the little locating flange (a real nice fit-up will have part of the verticle leg of the Roof Edge Molding covering just the bottom edge of the Hinge mounting flange). RV Putty Tape under the hinge first, then fit-up the Roof Edge Molding and use clear or silver siliconized caulk to seal under that, and fill in any gaps in the final fit-up. Clear as mud, right ... 8) ... 8) ...? E-mail me if you have further questions or need clarification.

Continued Good Luck on the build ... can hardly wait to see it at the Dam Gathering! 'Til later, then ...

CHEERS!
