Sides and Doors Cut Out!!!

Okay, I feel like a bit of a slacker, in that it has taken me soooooo long to get to this point, but since this is such a milestone for me, I thought I should share. I finally have my sides and doors cut out!!! I was totally stressing this stage, but it went really well.

Here is the curb side propped up to check the fit:

And here are the two doors:

They look a bit dull right now, since they have been sanded down after fiberglassing them. I plan to put about 5 coats of marine spar varnish on them a little later, so they'll look nice and glossy again. This next weekend I am going to start building the wall frames and door frames. Hopefully things will go a bit faster now.

Thanks for looking everyone!

Oh Amy, it is just beautiful. I love the inlay. I guess we need to start a special designation for art Tears here.

That is sooooooooooooooo nice!!! I really love the inlay work. There ought to be a sticky for the slacker, stressed out builders. We could all commensurate!!! My only saving grace seeing how all these other Tears turn out that look so great!!

I know it's silly, but I started it and it would just be rude if I didnt "do the dance" for a milestone like this.

Amy, that is Absolutely Amazing!!! Beautiful craftmans ship.

Wow, you're a really good woodworker!!! I'm looking at your photos and can't figure out how you got all the circles lined up so the curves would meet up. I would've Judo chopped the whole thing into firewood trying to get THAT figured out!!

That is going to be really nice....... take your time and make it right.

FABULOUS!

My guess is she cut the squiggles and lines out of the SKINS with a router, stained them, then "just" laid them and glued them onto the wall perfectly.

Nope, click on the "Photo Log" link at the bottom of her post and look at how she did it. I still don't know HOW she did it but it has some of the steps in there. Pretty neat!!
