Monday I was grinding my frame preparing it to weld on my propane tank mount and a piece of metal hit me in the face, hit my safety glasses and went in my eye, I thought I got it all out but when I tried to go to bed that night and closed my eyes it start hurting really bad, I didn't sleep all night and the next day I made an appointment with the eye doc,he couldnt see me till the next day (today) and when I went in he found a piece of metal had rusted in my eyeball and had to be surgically removed,
The eye surgeon used a drill like a Dremel to grind all the metal out and then had to grind away part of my eyeball to get all the rust out,so now I have a hole in my eye, cant work on my tear for a week, havent slept since Sunday night, I cant close my eye without screaming in pain and I have to wear some dorky dark glasses 24 hours a day!
It's kinda ironic, for years I wouldnt wear safety glasses and never got hurt, but ever since I started wearing them I have been injured four or five times! Safety first? Aaron

DAYUM, Aaron, that's tough...really hate to hear it...I think when we use safety glasses we tend to look more open eyed than if not and that can add to injury...keep being safe...it IS the best way...get a clod one..turn off the lights and just chill for awhile...good meds at this point can be indispensable :D

:o Oh Arron. Gonna pray for your eye. So glad you still have them. Maybe we all need to get the glasses that strap on. Or full face shields.

I too gotten rust in my eye one time. Wow I know what you mean by pain. It was painfull. It was odd watching the doc using something like a dremel tool to get rid of the rust out of your eye. I had to wear an eye patch for 4 days. I hope that never happens to me again. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I want to get a full face shield because I've had instances where I got splashed and the chemical went past my glasses and landed closer to my eye than I would have liked.

Aaron and auntie, I hope both of you heal up real soon. You're burning up the Summer building when you should be camping.
