Fender mounting

Hi All
Has anyone put any kind of material between your fender and the camper? I have .032 sides and I am mounting diamond plate aluminum fenders. I wanted to use just the brakets at the front and back of the fenders. The thought of drilling a mounting hole in the side of my trailer just doesn't sit well with me. The only problem is, if the fender moves any the diamond plate will eat up the side of the trailer. I thought I had seen some body moulding that might work. But I wanted to see if anyone had tried just using the front and back bracket only. I am getting real close to finished. After the fenders the hatch is the only thing left. My album shows my progress. Thanks John

John:

Some have a bracket made that is attached to the frame so as to have the
fenders free floating away from the side of their trailer.

If a free floating frame isn't your choice, here are a few threads that might help you in your decision making?

I did not drill into the side of my camper... two brackets front and back, rubber sandwiched... check album for details.

I just put a bead of silicone on the fender. No holes in the side of the trailer. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the replies,
I put a bracket in the front and back and it just was not sturdy enough.
So then I drilled two holes in the side of the camper and put silicone around some threaded studs. Then I tightened a flanged nut against the side of the trailer. Drilled two holes in the fenders and you can now stand on them ( not recommended) I have worked alot the past two days on my camper check out my album. One or two more weeks and I will be finished. I ordered a temperature stick that should be here Thursday. I have had problems annealing. It ends up being a beat and bang instead of bending. Thanks John
