Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I gaining some small progress however I have some "Doubt" at the same time so I better ask...

Here is where Im at when the time is 23:21 here in Reindeerland working out in the Arctic Skies Shop..

My





question concerns the 3rd photo. If you look at the wall that Im building,
the top portion touches the cross rib there .. I know if I leave it as is the hatch will hit it and it wont close.. so my question is ... should I then lower the top half? then the hatch will clear but how then do I cover the hole that it will leave or gap there if I lower it about 4 to 6 inches? And leave that

Hopefully you understand my question.. If not I,ll go and lower the top half of the wall so the cross piece is lower.. space for a small shelf ?

Why would you need to lower it 4 to 6 inches?? How thick is your hatch??

Hi Kerry, Nice to hear from you.. I took another pic of it but lowered it a little..

In what way do you mean how thick? The front top where the hinge goes?

Ok I measured and the its 2 and 3/4 inches...nothing has been cut and glued yet.. since Im not real sure how to do this....whew..

Hi Miriam... I,ll put the hatch on it tomorrow and will see how it actually is..before cutting and gluing..Does anyone else have that spacing there or am I the only one? If it needs to be that way.. looks as though it could be a small shelf there with a decor rail or whatever its called for spices or..cups or...

I dont know why this is taking me so long to plan and do.. but it is unfortunately..

But slowly its coming along...Another question that came to mind is ...
Is that wall framing supposed to sit on top of the counter or be installed on the back edge of the counter?

Since I wasn't sure I borrowed a picture from Steve Frederick's thread. I think if you go to his www you will find very good pictures on how to do this part.

You're doing just fine - don't "over" think what you're doing. Keep it simple and easy. You can keep your idea like you have in 3rd photo and just "L" back into a stepped shelf. Look closely at the pix I sent you and you'll see I pretty much did the same thing. Miriam also gave you a very good picture on yet another cure. Just slow down, don't over complicate. I know how easy it is to think you're in trouble when really you're not. Trust me, I made so damn many mistakes, got frustrated, threw tools, smoked cigarettes and guess what? The answer always turned out way much better than the original problem.

You do speak with words of wisdom...I was out studying it for about a half hour as well after I posted the question.. Study and do .. do and study.. Yupper keep it simple i s a good thing..A cup of coffee sure tastes good outside while studying under the stars here in the Nort..

You could also move the whole wall/bulkhead back towards the front of the teardrop enough that you can close the hatch without hitting it and not have any gaps at the same time. Hope that makes some sense.

Heikki , from looking at those pics & another question you asked about the slides for the cooler , I see you don't have a platform for the cooler to sit on. I was just wandering if you had the clearence for the cooler & the countertop . When you build your slides you will have to have a piece of wood under the cooler. Or maybe I just don't know whats happening. Would'nt be the first time! If I am confusing you , just say go away!

Hi there Boodro the platform is in the making... I didnt put that there since I just wanted to show the slides ..but yupper that I do know there has to be a plate or bottom for the cooler in order to stay on..
