Mike, My door is 36" X 30". I think it's 2" above the floor and my matress in 5" thick. It works well for me.

My door is 24" wide and 30" high. I was a little worried at first that I made it small but I'm having no trouble getting in and out. The mattress is 8" thick and the door starts at 4" from the floor. That worked out very well as I'm not hitting the back of my thigh on the door threshold due to the nice size of the mattress.

My door is 30" wide and the bottom is flush with the floor,I didnt want to feel any pain on my shins or anywhere else as I crawled through from an elevated threshold,it will also make it easier to sweep out any debri that may get in.
I couldnt think of any reason to raise the threshold up, Did I miss something? Aaron

This is the inside

My doors are as high and wide as possible, butted up against the fender and the curved top at the other end. The dam at the door is about 2' high and doesn't hurt your legs when seated on the 5" mattress. Big doors are nice, and 2 doors assure making the bed isn't a big chore.

Hey I took a look at your speakers - Awesome!
Was it you that post some time ago that you use auto urethane when painting your speakers? If so what do you do to prep them for this process they look like glass in the pics.
Sorry if I am driving my my own thread off course just taking a little detour.
The reason I ask is because after going to the DAM gathering I noticed how Smooth wood gets when covered with numerous coats of Spar varnish. I want to make my final coats with a one step auto paint to match my Scion and was wondering about prep and adhesion issues?

My Door is 24" Wide and 36" Tall. I weigh Around 225 and have no problems getting in and out. Matress 8" Thick.

Depending on your overall method of consideration, you may not want to drop the threshold all the way to the floor. A donut is stronger and more stable than a horseshoe, unless its in my mouth. Then, the donut is just yummy and the horseshoe tastes like metal and horse poo.

Now back to doors. Here's an inside shot.

With the door threshold being half the mattress, you'll never feel it when sitting on the mattress with your legs out the tear. It also helps to keep the mattress and bedding in and makes it easy to close the door. Oh my door measures 36" high and 32" wide or is it the other way.

Mike, as for prep,there is allot! After I get the cabinets built I cover the entire surface with a VERY THIN layer of body filler that has been thinned with Plastik Honey, then I sand them smooth,Heat them up inside and out for about 24 hours to get all the materials to shrink up as much as possible,then I cover the entire suface again with sandable primer,heat it again,sand it spray another coat of sandable primer,heat again,sealer,wetsand down to 800 grit,paint with Nason 2K urethane or PPG depending on how much the speakers are selling for,then wetsand the paint to 1500 after about twelve hours, then I polish with polishing compound with my 7" polisher.
The paint takes almost as long as the speakers do to build. I design and build the crossovers as well. Need some speakers! ?
