Question about alternate hatch mounting

After spending the first day working on walls for my new tear today, I was wondering if anyone has tried internal hinges for a hatch mount? similar to the way a car hatchback or trunk lid is mounted. Maybe even an internal "gutter" as an auto has. Just wondering! I like to make things as difficult as I can!!!

Watching undercoat on the bottom of the floor and glue on wall framing dry gave me too much time to think!!!

This tear was done that way. I don't have a photo of it in the closed position. Danny

Sorry I missed your post in the introductions section, but welcome to the forum. Although I don't have any ideas about alternative hatch mounting, I am only about a 30 minute drive from you over close to Bulverde, and if you need a teardrop to look at to get some ideas, or something, you are more that welcome to take a look at mine. It's by no means outstanding in any way, but it seems to be surviving pretty well after going on three years and over 18,000 miles. Again, welcome to the forum and I'd be happy to help you in any way if I can.

Did ya notice at Shasta that Marty had ditched the car-trunk-lid hinges and now has brass-plated external gate-type hinges? Still has the internal "gutter" though ... ...

Grant, Ya Marty explained ( I had forgotten) that to me during the Goldendale weekend last year. He had some car hood release mechanism too and gave up on that. Probably one of his brother Larry's ideas originally. I noticed Larry had made a machined finished tear similar to Dan Hazard's tear some years back on your website too. That Larry is quite a thinker. Danny
