I have heard of using your spare tire scissor jack welding to the bottom of your frame.

What about air shocks that would self adjust? Just brainstorming.

Just get a pair of Harbor Freight jack stands... When unhooking from car just drop front of trailer below level line, put stands under rear crossmember, raise front till level....

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/d ... mber=38846

Pretty hard to beat price ....

We call them scissor jacks down here. The car style is what I have seen used. Weld and/or bolt them to the chassis and wind them down when you get to your camp site. We can get them pretty cheap from the car junkyards.

Cheers

I'm going to have to draw this, But I've seen jack-knife style stabilizers before. A 12" piece of steel hangs from the frame from a hinge. Attached to this piece of steel is a 12" piece of steel, hanging from a hinge. At this point, you have a double hinge. On the frame member, running from the hinge-attachment point towards the front, there is a third piece of steel with well defined knotches every 1". When the trailer is relatively level, the 16" piece of steel swivels upward and locks into the appropriate knotch, creating a triange. The trailer rests on the middle hinge. If designed cleverly, the whole thing can fold flat against the underside of the frame during transit. It can also be designed such that the free end of the double hinge is permanently attached to the knotched area rail.

Got it?

I think making something kinda like this would work... On the other hand, what's your time worth? Sometimes it's just not worth "reinventing the wheel" when you can buy them ready-made for a few bucks...
