Had a chance this weekend to work on the tear...( The wife was away)

Managed to get 3 coats of varnish on the walls of the galley and 1 coat on the cabinets. Had to take everything apart though.

FINALLY bolted down the tear, used Wingnuts (proper name?) and bolts and loctite.

Added 1 1/4 " to the length of the tear so that the hatch would have something to sit on. Oh yeah, got the inside ply on the hatch.

Worked on the icebox doors. Worked on the icebox doors. worked on the icebox doors.

Did I say I worked on the icebox doors? Well, they are as finished as they will ever be. They are mounted, they fit, and have one coat of varnish. I still have to put a stile between the doors and figure what kind of a latch to use, but that's minor. ( I hope).

Can't put the galley back together until i put the floor in....

Oh yeah.... here are some pics.....

You mean the grill? Weighs maybe 4LB and cost me $20.00 on sale at Canadian Tire...In store special....

As for the rest of the tear.... nothing to look at yet. Just pieces laying all over the workshop.....I use the term workshop with great disrespect....

Edit ..O.K. I just checked the net.... maybe it does weigh around 20#, but I really got a bargain. Didn't know they cost that much... :?

John,

It's really neat that you are building your own icebox. It never occurred to me that someone could build their own icebox. Really nice craftsmanship on your build. I hope to see your trailer in person some day (you too of course  ).

8) It is possible it isn't the same one. The internet one (Sears) has stainless steel and won't catch your table on fire. Sounds like you still got a great deal.

That brassy gold trim really gives it a vintage feel from what I see. That is really something to be proud of.
