I got my tear covered with aluminum today except for the hatch,I have to wait for SAF to replace a sheet that was damaged in shipping. SAF has been very helpful to me and I would highly recomend them for aluminum skin.
The trucking company that delivered My aluminum damaged a couple sheets and SAF is shipping me replacements free of charge (2 sheets of .040 5'X10' sheets) Not bad!
I glued the sides on with exterior floor glue spread with a 1/16th" notched trowel, I cut the sheets with a jigsaw from the back side and it worked great. I didnt glue the top on at all, with the constant curve of the roof it lays flat against the surface and seems very sturdy,I will hold it down with the trim.
The hardest part was holding the 4X10' sheets up against my tear to scribe the profile on the back of the skin. My helper didnt show up till noon,(son in law) At least I dont have to pay him!
I bought a hurricane hinge from Grant at Lil Bear and it works great,
Grant was very helpful to me as well,He hung around his shop after work waiting for my daughters to show up to get it.
I will post some pics of the finished tear tomorrow if I can get it out of my basement!
One more day and I will be completely done! I am so glad I decided to build this thing,It has been very rewarding and much less expensive than buying a camp trailer, besides, I have never owned a brand new camper before!
To all still building,Hang in there! It is well worth the work!!!!
Thanks everyone. Aaron

Just stay up and finish. You won't be able to sleep anyway. :coffee:

One more day and I am done (I hope) I didnt get much done today as I could hardly move this morning, My back just cant do what it used to do!
I hurt so bad last night that I slept exactly 1 hour and finaly gave up and got out of bed at 3 am.
I sure miss the old days when I could work on a project more than a couple hours and still walk!
I did get all the trim on my tear today.tomorow I hope to get the tounge box skinned and trimmed and find some teenagers to pull it out of the basement and down the hill to the street so I can take some pictures of the finished project. I am very pleased with the aluminum skin I bought,It has a very nice brushed finish and I managed to get it all on without any damage. I even managed to get the .040 bent around the sharp radius at the back of the hatch. I will for sure post some pics tomorrow ! Aaron
