Where could I order one of these from and how is it installed? Does anyone have one on their tear .. and if so would you have a photo or 2 of its installation?

I got one like that from Austin Hardware. I can't really tell you how I installed it. You can figure it out after you look at it for a few minutes (if I can, anybody can).

I used one of these.

To install:

Bore center hole towards the bottom edge of the hatch.

Attach latch to backside with the rods (which you will cut to protrude out about 13 mm each side).

I used LIPSTICK on the ends of the rods, close hatch, turn latch (spreading the rods out) the lipstick will leave its mark on the TD side panels!

Simply drill a hole (slightly larger than the rod diameter) about 15mm deep at these marks.

I don't have a photo of this, but we'll see what I can do...

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Coop

Like Coop said.

I framed the hatch with two parallel cross members with blocks where the handle would be attached.

After test fitting I skinned the inside. I wanted this on the outside in case I neede to get to it.

I used ink on the end of the rods to find the location. After drilling through insert the rods. The trick is to get them flush when the latch is open but sticking through enough to latch when closed.

Next drill the coorsponding hole in the side for the rod to latch into.

After skinning the outside of the hatch install the handle.

Hope this helps. Please don't laugh at my pictures, I am neither a carpenter of a sheet metal worker. :)
