Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hey there ... Its a beautiful day here in Finland .. and Im in the midst of doing the skirting template for the Voyager..The reason I want to do the skirting is that the fenders hang down too low at 4.5 or 5 inches and they look real weird if raised..

Can any of you Pleeeeease..Mike , Andrew, Madjack or help me design the skirting on a Computer Program so I can see what it will actually look like...

I need your design help. as to how to cut the profile starting from the front lower radius so it continues onto the skirting itself...

Here is a pic of the Template in place but I cant for the life of me think of how to start drawing the front and ending at the back...

Id like to make it out of Diamond Plate or Stainless. Most likely the Diamond Plate.

I really like your shape...if the drop from the fenders is bothing you, how about adding a chrome or stainless nerf bar???

Yup the drop of the fenders does bother me... a lot... Cant help myself.. Hmm that could be an idea...

Here is what I have in mind because then the Fenders would sit flush in my opinion.



But how to cut the template now is my question..in front and back? Id take the skirting off till I get a drop axle this fall or winter.. Or a torsion
axle..

I have to say that I can't see how the skirting idea is going to look good. You're right - there is no easy way to blend the skirting into the bottom shape of the body. At some point, it's going to look like some skirting hanging down and not like a lower body.

The best plan if you must have it would be to bring it up to the bottom of the doors. The front won't look too bad, but the back will still look very odd:

Gee am I glad you chimed in... thank you kindly.. Ive been racking my ol
brain all day with this with a few other things..somehow I can see it looks good but then again it dont...but somehow its ok till it I can get the proper axle to get the wheels up or body down..

But its a cosmetic thing in reality but still ...

Your idea isnt bad at all though Andrew.. Andrew what is your opinion on looks the fenders being down below the frame 4.5 or 5 inches without a skirting?

Andrew can you draw the same radius on the back as you did on the front ? What would it look like then?

Andrew another question is.. would Parabellum Leafs do any justice in lowering the frame any?

Here is a pic of my setup as it is now..except the axle is on top of the leafs. And it still didnt do much to lower it.



Here is a photo of the Parabellum Leaf.. good for up to 900 kilo.


Shorter Shocks Maybe?

PS Andrew I did receive that catalog from the Axle Company in the Uk as well..that you suggested - excellent customer service... Maybe there axle will solve my entire problem in the fall or early winter..??

I must say that I don't like the sight of the fenders hanging below the body, but I don't think the skirting will make it look any better. The skirting will always look like something that's been added on. Looking from sideways-on like these photos makes it look like part of the body - but in real life, I think it will look fake.

Here is the back changed to be like the front as you requested.



I don't see how changing your springs will have much effect - they may lower the frame an inch, but not much more. If you stay with springs, you would need a dropped axle, but (a) I don't think you can get them in Finland, (b) there doesn't seem to be space between the frame and wheel and (c) fitting in the damper would be very difficult. So that's not good, eh?

To lower the trailer, a new torsion axle would be the easiest. Would you need to resubmit the trailer for approval?

I didnt think the parabellums would do much...Would I resubmit the trailer for approval ... NO WAY Andrew... Im going to bring it in as is now ok with the changed tow bar and thats it.. after that Im home free.. They have my fee and I have my plates..

Here is the Catalog I received from Indespension..UK. Ive got 2 catalogs and they sure have some fine goodies in there that we dont have here.
