Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hey Folks,

I am just getting into finishing up framing for my Fantastic Fan. After that's done, I have no clue what to do next. I am working off no plans at all but my ability to think outside the box is very limited. I have posted a basic drawing of the profile that I am using which is almost identical to the Little Guy Sport. I have no measurements as to where to begin and end the hatch or install galley shelf, bulkhead wall height, or placement, or inside cabinets. Does anybody know of a plan that I can use as a reference to help me finish out the rest of my tear?


I looked through the library but nothing really comes close. Hmmmmmm...What to do next????

Ps...Ya might want to bring that door opening down a little. put it closer to the TD floor....oops...I see you have already cut them out.. too late.....

Your bottom bulkhead wall/framing should be 6' back from the front, which will give you 6' of sleeping length. According to your profile, that also means 13 3/4" from the back edge.

Are you following this at all?

Once you got that down, you can decide to place the middle and upper ones wherever you want, depending on what you want cabinet-wise in both the cabin and galley.

Bottom bulkhead wall should meet the mattress with tuck room. After that go up 18 to 20 inches for foot room. It can be less if you have really small feet out from that line to where you want the upper cabinet to land. Be sure you leave yourself breathing room. I would take some cardboard in and see what I could live with.

The Benroy plans have a great lay out you can modify if needed

Yeah, I like the Benroy Plans and still have them printed out from when i was originally going to build one. I am just terrible at trying to take the layout from the Benroy and figuring where and how I should set it up in my profile.

Hmmmmmm. Maybe I could lay the Beroy Plans on top of my drawn profile and study it that way. I am a VERY visual person and need something definate to go on. UGggggggggg!!! Lord of Teardrops, please help pitiful me!

I plan on using a queen sized mattress which is listed at 78" length.....Should I install my bulkhead like 80" from the front???? That would leave roughly 4 3/4" of flat floor before the floor starts to curve up. I was going to have a thin storage area accessible from the galley where you pull open part of the countertop to access the small compartment...Does this make sense?

I wonder if a 20" tall bulkhead wall installed 80" from the front will be a good place to start????? Hmmmmmmm just wondering if this could create any problems for the rest of the build.

If I put in a bulkhead, what is the best way??? Frame it or just cut a 3/4" thick plywood to size and screw into it from the outside???? Is 3/4 plywood too thin to drive screws into the edges???? Will I crack it or get tear-out? I plan on Gorilla Gluing the bulk head wall just need to figure the rest of this confusing crap out.

I'm going to use 3/4 ply for everything, but cut it about 3 inches short and then glue/finish nail some 3/4 by 1 1/2 inch strips of oak to the edges, so I'll have something to glue/screw it to the sidewalls with
