has anyone done an 8 foot version of the midget
along the lines of steve's puffin
I think the midget has a great profile and keeping it at 8 foot would only mean the one join along the side?

I don't know of anyone who has done an 8' version of it. The original was only 9' long, so I don't think it would be that difficult to scale it down.
I love the lines of the Midget - it's my favorite TTT by far.

Hi Marcel,
The Midget is a very nice profile. The problem is with those rounded ends it's hard to make it shorter without really giving up the floor space (it's only 70" long on the 9' version). But, it depends on what you want in there.
If you take Andrew's Midget and move the rear bulkhead back one foot (then shorten the body by a foot) you could do it but you'll have a very limited galley area; but perhaps all you need for your use.
I wouldn't worry about the plywood joins, there are so many ways to skin that cat that you shouldn't give up the space (unless it really works for you) just to accommodate the wood. IMHO
