I have the sides cut and the doors cut oui but because my trailer is called the BoxKite. I think my doors will be Gull wing.

But I am looking at a much different design. I am thinking of adding a ply wood peace to the outside that is making the door bigger then the opening and so when it closes it will cover the opening completely. much like a boat hatch locking the weather out.

I guess I will have to draw this and photograph it so you understand.

So you will put the hinge at the top....Kewl...

Ron, I've done that treatment on the last 3 tears I've built, with the flange on the door...thing is...a hinge at the front of the door will cut down on some of the potential water penetration that you may experience...I used a piece of rip stop nylon as a hinge sealer....Where do you think you are going to install your latch, when latching the door from the interior, and, do you think it will provide enough compression on the weatherstripping to seal it, when blowing down the road in a rainstorm, I think you'll find that you would get water into the tear....just some things to think about...not busting your chops on the idea. I think it is workable...I'm a Luddite...Doug

well, by golly, I think it's a wonderful idea..and to keep water out as you trudge down the road, put a piece of angle in front to deflect the water past the door, and a good seal will keep it dry while sitting still.

plastic hinge some folks are using for their galley? I think it's solid so shouldn't leak thru the hings, have to worry about the ends
