Here's a cool fender idea!

I first saw this idea from Lenny (McTeardrops) and loved it. Rich (Nitetimes) has a similar version, also. It's a cheap and snappy looking fender that has a good look for teardrops. It's made from a tandem axle trailer fender, cut in half and trimmed to finish it off.

I'm using this on my Jim Dandy project and have the same pics over on the General Discussion. I thought I'd put them here in case somebody needed an idea for fenders.

Duh, it took me a while to figure out the tandem part. That really is a slick looking fender.

Hmmm... that is a pretty cool idea! And, the fun part is I have a pair of new tandem fenders sitting in the barn I never got around to using. Just never thought about whacking them up and making teardrop fenders out of them? Thanks for the tip.

Jeff what would it take to design that into a 30,s Ford type fender? It doesnt look like the design would be that far off..

Funny you should say that... I was thinking a little hammering & welding could make it into a pretty close approximation of an early Ford fender. May have to give that a try.

Telepathy Brick

I think that would look impressive if it could be done keeping it simple instead on one of those English Wheels for shaping...

Jeff,

Can you get two tear fenders out of one tandem fender, one left and one right? Looks like the fenders are steel. What about bringing the tail lights forward to the rear lip of the fender and blending them in with a filler to make a single unit? You'll have to paint the fenders at some point anyway. I don't know if that location would be legal where you live, but it seems that many tears with the glass fenders have the lights mounted directly to the fender. Just a thought.

BTW, I'd ask my neighbor very politely to keep his dog on a leash. He must be huge.

Yes J.B., two fenders out of one tandem. I know, the wet spot looks a little suspect. Hell, it could've been the neighbor.

They are off of a '91 Aerostar, 14X6. Ford used them for alot of years and Rangers use them also.
