Dose anyone know what kind of format/info i'll need to supply to the sign shop guys for them to cut out the side walls of my next tear?

A drawing for them to double check their program / finished work. We also supply our prototype builders (sheet metal) with a DXF file to program their CNC machines with. Some CNC machines like an iges or step file, but most 2D work is programed with a DXF file.

I've heard the same thing. Everyone wants a dxf file.
Except for me of course, I work right from the parasolid model.

I have a friend with a CNC router and when I need him to cut for me I just email a pic of what I want and he has a program that digitizes the image, I just give him two dimensions and his computer does the rest.
When I needed some logo plates and bi-amp plates for my speakers I just sent a rough drawing.
Does the sign shop have a way to digitize? These are my designs made from a fairly rough pencil sketch cut on my buddys CNC router. It's nice to have a friend with a CNC !

Thanks for the input. I,ve only e-mailed a couple of times I need to stop in and talk more in depth with the owner. Seems to be a few different ways to go about it.

Hey Scott, lets see dose anyone know what cnc stands for...computer navigated cutting? well the router part is self expanitory. In short its a really cool tool that lets you put the jig saw and belt sander away when cutting the profile. Perfectly identical accuratly cut walls very quickly.
I don't know what it is going to cost yet but i know how much work it will save me! The second tear is for a family member.
Have you found that regulator yet?

A CNC router is similar to the machines you may have seen on TV shows like American Chopper or American HotRod,the machine they use to cut their rims and machine different shapes out of flat steel or aluminum.
The one my buddy has is awesome,it can be loaded with a 5'X10' sheet of whatever product you want,it holds it down with a vacuum and can even cut in three dimensions.when it needs to make different type of cut it changes the bit by itself.
I have seen kits to build your own but a real one like his cost him

Not yet, haven't had much time latley to work on it though. Do have my hatch redesigned with out haveing to take it of though, now I just have to get back to work on it.
Keep us posted in the cut, I'd bee interested in how that comes out and what they charge for something like that.

Or you can just work for a sign company that has two routers, not to brag or anything but that's how I'm doing my woody with very detailed inlays. I can't wait to start the walls.
