Has anyone used osb plywood to frame the walls ? The reason I ask is I can get all the 7/16 I want for free.

In previous discussions we decided that the OSB had no structural strength, and didn't have strength to hold onto screw thread either. And to make matters worse, when it gets wet, it's really a mess.

I built a prototype in the driveway with osb, but I took it apart and trashed it when I was done...

You might want to drop a PM to BobHenry...I think he built Eggbert with OSB and ask him how it's holding up for him...I'd think for longevity it might not be the best material...but it will keep your cost down. Doug

If you had 5 or 10 gallons of epoxy and were liberal with it's use (soaking both sides and every edge of each piece of OSB you used on your build) I think you would be by OK

The cost of the epoxy and the weight of both the epoxy and the OSB would have me looking at materials better suited to building a tear with though . . . . even if it is free

If you are getting the kind of OSB that is for roofing it will resist water but you need to sand the sealer it has on it off to get the glue to stick so........

Might work for a first and let you know what you really want for #2. Cause you will want a second for sure.

I think you'll be a lot happier in the long run...fighting screws that tear out etc...will get old fast and glued pieces are only going to be as strong as the hunk/flake in the board that it is attached to...just my opinion...Doug

If it isn't recommended to use OSB for walls then how about for the floor construction? I know that OSB can used in a tent trailer (since I have unfortunately posses one that I can do nothing with). Is that a wise option? I just purchased and licensed a new HF trailer so I will be able to construct my own TTT. I will start my build this week (probably the weekend) and I was also contemplating OSB usage

I'm in the process of rebuilding a '94 Aliner because it had OSB flooring that turned to mulch!

So the short answer IMO is NO!

I've just cut my first piece of OSB for the floor, after reading this I'm rethinking of going on with OSB. What should I use instead?
