ok. i am to a point where i am putting my walls up. but i want to make sure i am doing this right. i have framed one wall and applied the frame to the interior wall. i have set it against my cabinets and bulkhead and i have screwed it to them at my designated anchor points. it is real sturdy. my exterior wall is not in place yet. once the walls are wired and insulated i will then add the exterior wall to that. i think i am ok but some reassurance would be nice.

If I'm reading this right you're doing fine just backwards to what most I've seen do (most frame to the exterior wall first and then apply the inside skin last, though I was thinking about reversing it as well to ensure a good connection to the cabinets).

I don't think it really matters though and I think you're doing fine.

I think you will be fine doing it that way. How are you planing on attaching the outer skin? I would be sure of that first.

Uh and do you have a picture of the wall?

oh yea, it will be screwed to the framing also and covered in alum. i am likeing building inside out rather than outside in better so far. much more roomto work.

You're doing right Steele by doing the cabinetry first & fastening the walls to it. I did the same except didn't do the cabinets. I did however start with the inner walls, fastened the framework to them then fastened the walls to the floor, added the spars & the inner ceiling skin, then insulated & added the outer luan skin/roof. After all that was sealed 'n sanded I installed the aluminum skin. The galley/cabin cabinets came later & numerous times I was wishin' I'd built them first . Was a lot easier building from inside out when placing skin, insulation, etc.

Sounds like you are doing it perfect, as long as you cabinets are square, things will go together well. Building from the inside out is working for me perfectly. Wait till you find out how easy it is to do the ceiling and how you will have such perfect corners.

You'll have some time to think about your electrical and have lots of room to place the wires.

You'll be done in another record breaking time

I think I like your method although I am too green on TD's to really be an influence. But from a logical viewpoint it sounds like a good way to go.

I have been wondering ever since I started lurking here how you guys are fastening the walls to the platform? Seems to me to be a potential weak point. In house construction, I have always nailed the sole of the wall to the floor but with these TD's, there won't be much of a sole, especially with solid plywood walls. Are you using pocket screws?

I also am building inside out. The frame was made with ripped 2x2's from larger stock then fastened to the floor and frame before I started installing the inside skin. Later I will be able to install the wiring and insulation without having to crawl around inside the enclosure. You can see you are not alone so keep on keeping on.
