Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I have this front seam I am covering and no real good way to clamp it. I am thinking of using contact cement to hold the trim on, then epoxying and clear coating over the trim.

Will I have a problem with this???? Will it work??????

I would use epoxy instead of contact cement and, (wait for it) . . . duct tape--makes a pretty good clamp.

I used epoxy on all the rest but this seam has a slight ridge in the middle.

Does epoxy stick to the sticky side of duct tape? I can't imagine the board conforming with tape but I am off to see.

If the seam is forming a little peak, you can sand it flat, or sand a groove in the mating surface of the trim. I'm assuming you are running the trim piece horizontally from side to side.

Or use your handy dandy new TS to cut a slight "V" shaped depression in the back of your trim? Then epoxy or PL Urethane adhesive would work fine. Taping it in place with duct tape is not a bad idea. I would prolly just use a few brads or finish nails to attach it. You could also use masking tape first to mask off all but the strip where the trim will go so your adhesive won't get all over the plywood if it runs or squeezes out some.

Only a Texian. A ridge is not a little peak and I am skeert to sand too much off. Sure wish I had thought of the tape with the rest of the stuff, especially the curves. Could have saved me a bunch of days waiting to share clamps with the next piece.

I don't think the epoxy will stick to the adhesive, but if it does, you should be able to remove it with lighter fluid or WD 40 (or check the other decal removal solutions in Ira's post), or a little sanding. Okay, more sanding than what you would want!

Another solution on the trim piece, a little more involved--take your trim piece and cut it down the center line. Bevel one edge and mate it to the seam your are covering. Cut a bevel in the edge of the other piece to match the bevel in the first piece and cover the other side of the seam. What you have created is a not flat, but not completely v-shaped trim piece that will cover the seam.

No groove cutting cause the trim is too thin. Got it sitting with some rubber bands on to see if it will roll some. The rest is now taped down so I don't need to wish for more clamps.....

You paying attention Mary K. ??? I know you are at the same place right?

Brick I don got no new table saw. I spent my money on a truck.

Er... uh... Why couldn't you sand the part where you are gonna glue the trim flat? The glue on the trim.

Ya just gotta love Duck Tape...Boy did that save me a bunch of days waitin.
