Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

FYI - With some of the recent threads of building a slightly larger TD to include a toilet, and or shower. I thought I would mention this in case anyone is considering adding a toilet in their build plans.

Thetford has a self contained cassette toilet that has a service access from the outside. It is similar to the portable toilet, but with the service access outside, it seems like a viable solution for small trailers. It must be new because the website does not have all the pictures loaded. I downloaded the manual to get a better idea. Electric flush, wheels on the cassette to roll it with. There are a couple of models, one can be hooked up to the main water tank for the fresh water inlet.

I have a C-4 thetford cassette toilet in my A-liner.

The model I have uses a mechanical flush, so it works with no electrical hook-up and it has a seperate water holding tank which would be ideal if you have no fresh water tank or just want to be sure you save enough water to flush the toilet. It's totally self contained.

The C-2, C-3 and C0-4 all use a 20 liter waste tank, so you can go a long time between dumps. They also have an indicator built in to let you know how full the tank is. When it does get full, it seperates cleanly and easily. Other than the weight of a full tank, It's easier to dump than a big RV - no need moving the rig either.

I've always liked the look of these, but has anyone used them in a homebuilt TTT? If so, what did it cost, how did it work, and where did you get it?

I really wanted one of these as it would be so much easier to access the holding tank on the outside of the camper. I don't remember the cost, but I know it was a lot more expensive than I was willing to pay.

They seem to be much more popular in Australia and England than over here.

They're not new, but as mentioned they are uncommon here. I've seen lots of photos and references, but never seen a trailer "in person" with one.

This design wouldn't fit my travel trailer well because it is moulded fiberglass with no flat vertical wall sections for mounting the access point, but a classic teardrop sidewall would work.
