Mrs Dog is a pro with one of those.

It's amazing that you don't need glue for the joints--the fit is so tight that it squeezes all of the glue out.

Good find on this! My Kreg was one of the most used tools during my build. I really don't know how I would have finished my trailer without it.

Kreg pocket jig vs. biscuit joiner

Which technique is more preferred, Kreg pocket hole joiner, or biscuit joiner?
I have a HF biscuit joiner (was gettin' ready for a TD build), but only used it one time. Many people praise the Kreg system, and seems like it makes a strong assembly.

Would the biscuit joiner method provide strength also? After drilling the holes, do you fill it in to make it look purdy, or do you just leave it as is?

Hey cuyeda I myself have not used the kreg jig yet! I will also be starting my build after a long absence. On the box though it sez that it produces a perfectly flush joint and that it is much stronger than other joinery methods, such as dowels, biscuits and mortise and tenon. You would be doing the pocket joint on the back side of whatever you are putting together and if there is going to be a visible pocket holes you can also get the pocket hole plugs to match whatever species of wood you are using.

Couple of advantage with the pocket hole jig is there is no dry time and easier to set up.

They both produce strong joints, the big difference is with the Kreg(or copy cats) the screws do the clamping for you instead of having to use clamps. For the wall framing this can make your build go faster.

They do make wooden plugs that fill the holes for the pocket jig but if you put the holes where they cannot be seen there is no need to fill them. There have been folks that use the wooden plugs as part of their design.

This being said I would not use the Kreg jig for any plywood applications by itself. I use a combination of Kreg and biscuits - the Kreg being a replacement for clamps.

Also be sure to use glue, there is squeeze out but there is still glue left in the joint.

That is exactly what I am doing with my framing for the walls.

My wife ordered me a pocket hole jig for Fathers day (September 7th here in Australia) I cant think of an easier way to build the frame for the walls than this so look forward to getting it so I can move on to the next step of the build :)

Cheers
